Dragonflies and other insects of Romania
The species of dragonflies in Romania are very little known in Europe also, however, have so far been discovered over 70 species. Large areas have been explored in search of dragonflies and distribution of species remains uncertain. Although Romania is one of the richest in Europe in species of dragonflies, the official number is relatively small compared to the real one. This is not due to lack of beautiful species or habitats favorable but because of lack of interest in studying them.
Habitats from Romania are varied, from the Black Sea to the Carpathians we meet numerous wetlands preferred by the dragonflies such as marshes, swamps, ponds, lakes, streams, rivers and delta.
Not only dragonflies arouse interest but also other large insects still survive in the virgin forests of the Carpathians.
That is why we invite you to enjoy exploring all these habitats with us in search of dragonflies and other insects.
